mini Junk Lantern- octave up
ANALOG OCTAVE UP!
No knobs, no probs! Add a dirty upper octave after your favorite fuzz, drive, or boost! The mini Junk Lantern can also be played on its own for tough, textured chords. We've miniaturized our Junk Lantern pedal and removed the controls- no knobs or toggles here!
INSPIRATION: Quirky analog octave and ring mod devices, the Green Ringer; this is the Junk Lantern circuit in the center toggle mode.
CIRCUIT SCIENCE: The circuit uses full wave rectification and modernized matched diode array to produce vintage octave up tones. A low pass filter improves signal to noise (like AM radio!), but does not alter the sound. The original Green Ringer used a matched diode pair device and we pay tribute to that approach, using a modem equivalent. Instead of germanium diodes, we employ a matched Schottky diode device that ensures maximum octave generation.
SOUND: This mini pedal is a classic ringer-type octave up that pairs well behind a fuzz or drive- Heavy Peaches is an excellent choice! Vintage upper octave tones abound near the 12th fret, especially with your tone rolled back and using neck pickups.
The mini Junk Lantern comes set to a pronounced dirty octave up at unity gain.
Austere design, esoteric nomenclature.
The video below shows the Junk Lantern and the mini can achieve the center (stock) toggle sounds.
- 9V center negative power supply, no battery
- current draw: 2mA
- dimensions: 3.63 x 1.50 x 1.88 in
- no controls!
