VERSATILE TRANSISTOR FUZZ, COATED IN SKULL-DUST

Tone asunder, a dynamic fuzz experience awaits.  Dial-in low end thunder and tweak transistor bias for a wide range of dirty possibilities, from broken & gated to thick & boomy!  There's nothing prosaic about this ode to fuzz.

SOUND:  asunder is a monstrous fuzz.  GAIN covers everything from muffled overdrive rhythm progressions to saturated chords of destruction.  The special sauce comes from the TONE and BIAS controls.  The TONE control brings serious boominess and can be thought of as a bass cut when turned clockwise.  The high frequency content is always there, so the low end settings won't turn muddy.  Adjusting BIAS results in several classic and new, ruined fuzz sounds.  Voltage is starved turning to the left; the signal can be completely choked out or set slightly "cold" for that early misbiased fuzz tone.  Just past noon is a classic sweet spot for cleanup at the guitar volume and more "toneful" sounds.  Fully to the right generates a gating reminiscent of 'bender type fuzz- hit a chord with force and the sound will temporarily cut out, then swell back.

CIRCUIT & CONTROLS:  asunder is built around vintage dual silicon transistor topology, optimized for modern components.  Filters at the input, output transistor and power supply lower potential high frequency noise and AM radio interference.

VOL.  Sets output signal level.

GAIN.  Determines the amount of incoming signal, which controls fuzz intensity.

TONE.  Dials in a high pass filter that removes or restores bass content to taste.  

BIAS.   Varies transistor voltage from lower (colder bias) to higher (hotter bias).

BACKGROUND:  We set out to create an expanded take on our  Heavy Peaches 1 knob fuzz, a "heavier peaches" of sorts.  Experimenting with tone stacks, transistor voltages, and gain adjustments led to revisiting an old schematic in the lab notebook. 

VERSION HISTORY:  The initial art in this series features a skull floating in ethereal flecks of stardust, reinforcing the changing and impermanent nature of all things.
