octo deco
ANALOG OCTAVE UP!
No knobs, no probs! Add a dirty upper octave after your favorite fuzz, drive, or boost! The octo deco can also be played on its own for tough, textured chords. The utilitarian nature of this device is contrasted with a luxurious art deco pattern to add some style to your pedalboard.
INSPIRATION: Quirky analog octave and ring mod devices, the Green Ringer, pedal stacking.
CIRCUIT SCIENCE: The circuit uses full wave rectification and a modernized matched diode array to produce vintage octave up tones. A low pass filter improves signal to noise (like AM radio!), but does not alter the sound. The original Green Ringer used a matched diode pair device and we pay tribute to that approach, using a modem equivalent. Instead of germanium diodes, we employ a matched Schottky diode device that ensures maximum octave generation.
SOUND: This mini pedal is a classic ringer-type octave up that pairs well behind a fuzz or drive- Heavy Peaches or Robotic Celeb Head are excellent choices! Vintage upper octave tones abound near the 12th fret, especially with your tone rolled back and using neck pickups.
VERSION HISTORY: Our 1 knob/1 toggle Junk Lantern had 3 modes of octave up fuzz, and a "mini" Junk Lantern featured only the center mode (no knob or toggle). The octo deco is the same circuit as the mini Junk Lantern.
